and on the lazy days the dogs dissolve and drain away

A while now since I've posted anything. Thing is, I blog every single night in my head. All sorts of wonderful posts about everything both zeitgeisty and, um, the other word. And I write stories, all kinds of touchingly lovely ones that will probably save short-form literature as we know it and persuade millions upon millions of people to abandon heat and nuts and now hello VIP you cosmopolitan zoo mirror smut. Probably. But they're not on a page, like, or on a screen. They're in my head and they will stay there for the time being until I can stay up late at night and have the patience and the mental strength to churn them out and save all your sorry lives. You will be glad.
But for now I will take the sleep that I get so that I can take the work that I get to fix broken fillings and pay the lecky in this longest of long fucking winters.

hey, this is totally a lovely story in itself. It's about me getting a little bit of work. And having broken teeth. And being really cold.

Yer one doesn't really write stories since some gobshite writing tutor discouraged her about a year ago. Smack his baldy head, I will.

Yay for getting a bit of work and Ow for the broken teeth! Sarah and Jennie are right though, do it! Hooray for peer pressure!

Yer one should bear in mind that most of these so-called writing tutors are only in that job because they can't write for shite themselves. So they naturally resent the crap out of anyone with the kind of talent she has.

Now, if I were one of those gobshites, I would mark your blog post with an A+ for telling us so much about what's happening in your life right now, in so few words. But I'm not one of those gobshites, so I hope that, like the Tower of Pisa, you will soon have both the time and the inclination to write more.

Long and cold indeed.

I hope you have a notebook. Or better memory than me...

Kitty Cat - Did you learn nothing from anti-smoking videos in the nineties? Peer pressure is neither big nor clever.

Tessa - He's a gobshite, alright, and one of those people who consider themselves to be an agent provocateur because they make stupid statements that nobody agrees with.
and you're being far too generous about this post, but thanks. Writing at the moment seems to feel like an awful lot of effort followed by an inevitable sense of disappointment. It'll pass, presumably.

Jo - I have stacks of notebooks. Each new one is supposed to be the thing that finally gets me going.

Perhaps you try a Huxley approzch to it,- The Posts of Perception.

I won't pretend I was knowledgeable enough to know what that was, so I googled it.
It's an interesting thought, but I reckon peyote might be hard to procure in Portobello at this time of year. And besides, if I'm too lazy to write when I'm straight, there's little chance of me doing it when mescalined out of it.

C'est La Craic said...

Good point, how the fuck did he write a book after taking mescalinee? And it's not like you see too many industrious junkies knocking around;
"'Ere bud, ya wudn't have U-ro so Oi cud sent off me manUscript, like?"

The only way to get writingis to write. you sit for 2 hours everyday and you write some crap. And a little bit of itmight shine out. But it's not about inspiration, it's about graft. I know I'm not a real writer because I just don't feel compelled do it. Sigh.

Well there was a month of it not being cold there before it got cold again... it's not like constant cold for months and months and months.

The way I see it the cold is better than the wet, and brighter, so it's been a good Winter. But the cold's not good if the teeth aren't great.

As for herself and that fella giving the course, he aint half the writer she is. In fact, and I can say this with a certain knowledge, there are very few folks with a voice as true as hers.

You should both set aside the time for it each week. Maybe stereo laptopping in the scatcher would keep the lecky needs down.

There's a strange portent in the word verification - 'readism' - it's getting so I suspect blogger does this deliberately.
